One Health Workshop on the Multi-Sectoral Prevention and Control of Avian Influenza for the Southeast Asia Region

Singapore

Hybrid Event, 20/01/2026 - 22/01/2026

The One Health Workshop on the Multi-Sectoral Prevention and Control of Avian Influenza will bring together over 80 experts, policymakers, and technical partners from across the Southeast Asia Region to strengthen regional coordination against highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). Co-organized by FAO and the Government of Singapore, with financial support from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (UK FCDO) through the project "Quadripartite Support for the Implementation of the ASEAN One Health Joint Plan of Action", this workshop supports the operationalization of ASEAN's Post-2020 Avian Influenza Control Framework, addressing sustained risks to animal health, public health, food security, and livelihoods through enhanced multi-sectoral collaboration and evidence-based action.

The workshop convenes Avian Influenza focal points from Southeast Asian countries alongside representatives from key regional organizations including the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Animal Health and Zoonoses (ACCAHZ), ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB), ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED), as well as Tripartite partners and international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), Harbin Veterinary Research Institute, Hokkaido University, and the WOAH/FAO Network of Expertise on Animal Influenza (OFFLU). The workshop aims to review the current global and regional HPAI situation and its implications for Southeast Asia, assess progress in implementing the ASEAN Post-2020 Avian Influenza Control Framework, and strengthen One Health approaches by integrating environment and wildlife sectors.
