This is one of the major parallel events to the World Summit on Sustainable Development and is organised by the South African Department of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology, the International Council for Science, the Third World Academy of Science and the World Federation of Engineering Organizations. Currently, details on 38 different sessions are available, including "The role of biotechnology and biodiversity in sustainable development: A dialogue between government, industry, international organisations and scientists" (31 August) and "Food security in Africa" (30 August).
