Friday 20 June 2014, 13:00-14:30, Iran Room
FAO’s Role in the Global Health Security Agenda
About the event: The Side Event will provide perspectives from FAO and members on FAO’s Role in the Global Health Security Agenda |
Purposes: The side event will provide a forum for discussion of how FAO’s work under the Organization’s mandate to eradicate hunger and malnutrition and to promote sustainable agricultural and rural development contribute to the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA). Food safety and animal health cut across these issues and the event will highlight some particular examples of FAO’s policy work and tools for strengthening animal and aquaculture health, food safety and emergency prevention and response relevant to the GHSA. Preventing outbreaks, detecting threats at an early stage and responding rapidly and effectively when needed have proven to decrease global health threats and improve lives and livelihoods. Refreshments will be available outside the Iran Room from 12:30 onwards. |
