SO3: Reduce Rural Poverty

Wednesday 25 March, 12:30-13:30, Iran Room

SO3: Reduce Rural Poverty

About the event: This side event will illustrate the integrated approach to rural development promoted by the FAO and its partners to address the root causes of rural poverty, namely by supporting the rural poor in improving their income-generating capacities through better access to productive resources, markets, services, technologies and producer organisations; through the creation of more decent and diversified employment opportunities in farm and non-farm activities; and through better social protection. Successful examples of how such approaches have been applied in practice will be presented by the panellist during this side event.

Purpose: The aim of the panel discussion is to present concrete results obtained through best practices, and to explore how these can and need to be scaled up for impact.
