Driving Food Waste Reduction: The Power of Stakeholder Engagement
29/09/2025
To mark the 2025 International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW), the FAO Liaison Office with the European Union and Belgium and the European Commission Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG Sante) are co-hosting a webinar focused on the power of stakeholder engagement in reducing food waste.
This online event will explore how public-private partnerships, voluntary agreements, and collaborative platforms can unite diverse actors, including governments, businesses, civil society, and academia, to drive meaningful change.
The session will open with remarks from Klaus Berend, Director at the European Commission’s Directorate for Health and Food Safety, and Raschad Al-Khafaji, Director of the FAO Liaison Office with the EU and Belgium.
Speakers from Argentina, Chile, Denmark, and Greece will present tools and voluntary agreements, and showcase various forms of public-private partnerships in their countries.
Following the expert presentations, a moderated panel discussion will take place with a Q&A session, offering tools and inspiration for those looking to launch or strengthen food waste reduction efforts, such as the FAO Food Loss and Waste app (FLAPP).
Whether you're already involved in initiatives addressing food loss and waste or just getting started, this webinar will provide valuable knowledge, real-world examples, and a chance to connect with experts working toward SDG Target 12.3.
