FAO Brussels Director presents credentials to the President of the European Commission

5 July 2022 – The Director of the FAO Liaison Office with the European Union and Belgium, Raschad Al-Khafaji presented his credentials to Pernilla Sjölin, the Acting Head of Protocol of the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The Director acknowledged with gratitude the excellent cooperation between the Organization and the European Union across all its institutions, highlighting the substantial contributions of the Commission to the Organization’s work across the world.

Al-Khafaji then presented FAO’s Strategic Framework that seeks to support the 2030 Agenda through the transformation to MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind. He added that the four betters represented the organizing principle for how FAO is contributing directly to the 2030 Agenda.

The meeting participants agreed on the substantial convergence between FAO’s Strategic Framework and the European Union’s Green Deal and the Farm to Fork Strategy and the importance of continuing to translate this convergence into joint work that focuses on eradicating hunger and addressing malnutrition.
