At the sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) that took place in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), HRH Princess Basma bint Ali of Jordan, FAO Regional Goodwill Ambassador for Near East and North Africa, delved into the importance of camelids for many communities worldwide: "The relationship between camelids and humans is one of many centuries. It comes in our heritage, our traditions... It is something we should celebrate and bring with us to the future."
