With over 25 years of senior-level engagement in agricultural trade and markets, Adriana has served as the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Mexico in international agricultural fora such as WTO, OECD and CGIAR. She brings expertise in conducting inclusive multistakeholder consultations, fostering public-private partnerships and advocating for sustainable trade and food security, as well as an academic background in international public policy and economics. Based in Rome, Adriana assumed the position of CFS Secretary in April 2024.

Dr. Fatiha Terki is the senior advisor to the Committee on World Food Security in Rome, on secondment from the World Food Programme (WFP). At WFP, she held key roles including Deputy Director a.i of Operations (DR Congo), Country Director (Senegal), Deputy Director of Nutrition, UNAIDS Global Coordinator and Head of Global Partnerships. A medical doctor with a PhD in epidemiology, Dr. Terki has over 25 years of experience in nutrition, food systems, HIV, and reproductive health. She specializes in policy development, program implementation, advocacy, and resource mobilization, with a strong focus on strengthening government and NGO capacities. She co-chaired the SUN movement’s business network, served on the UNITLIFE Board, and contributed to initiatives like IFNA and the Nutrition for Growth Summits. Her previous roles include senior partner at WHO’s HIV department and managing major funding projects with the Global Fund. In her home country, she coordinated national immunization and family planning programs.

Lorenz joined the CFS Secretariat in January 2023. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in food and agriculture policy. Before joining the Secretariat, he worked as a Director for the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the German Foreign Office. He has a PhD in International Public Law.

Economist
With a background in political science and development economics, Chiara brings over 15 years of experience in spearheading large intergovernmental and multi-stakeholder processes. She has been coordinating the Committee’s policy work around the areas of responsible investment in agriculture and food systems, agroecology, youth engagement and employment, strengthening collection and use of FSN data, reducing inequalities and strengthening urban and peri-urban food systems. Prior to joining the UN, she held positions within the non-profit sector in Belgium and El Salvador. Her life’s motto is “It always seems impossible until it is done.” (Nelson Mandela)

An Italo-Argentinian national, with academic background in political science, international relations and food security, Emilio joined the CFS Secretariat in 2010. In charge of several CFS policy processes throughout the years, he recently coordinated the development and endorsement of the Voluntary Guidelines on Food Systems and Nutrition. He is now coordinating the implementation of these guidelines. His optimism is proverbial - crucial asset for a member of the CFS Secretariat.

Food Security and Nutrition Specialist
Giorgia is a Biologist, Food Scientist and licensed Nutritionist with a Master’s degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition. She joined the CFS Secretariat in 2018 and is excited to contribute to the development of policy guidance that aim to achieve food security and nutrition worldwide. Before joining CFS, Ms Giorgia worked at FAO since 2015 in the Food Systems and Nutrition Division, and at a Hospital in Rome, developing nutrition plans in the diabetic department, before that. She is motivated, enthusiastic, reliable and sees opportunities in every challenge and the positive side in every difficult situation.

Marina has over 15 years of experience in international cooperation and in the management of non-profit organizations, with a M. Sc. in gender studies and around 10 years of gender-related professional experience focused on institutional gender mainstreaming, advocacy, policy analysis, and research. Before joining CFS, she was Secretary General of the Italian Committee of the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Italian Red Cross. Marina likes sailing and improvisation theater, where she enjoys being part of a crew.

Food Security and Governance Consultant
Carlotta Cramer is a British and Finnish national from London, UK. She holds an interdisciplinary Bachelor's degree from University College London (UCL), and a Master's degree in Food Studies: Policies for Sustainable Production and Consumption from the American University of Rome (AUR), where she focused her thesis research on the uptake of CFS policy products in Brazil. Carlotta's background is in project management and policy research, with experience in the RBAs and in strategy consulting for global sustainable development organizations. She joins the CFS Secretariat following internships with the High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE-FSN) based in FAO, and with the Global Donor Platform for Rural Development (GDPRD), hosted at IFAD.

Kennedy holds a BA in Social Communication and brings with him a strong background in strategic communication, media production, and digital outreach. Before joining FAO, he worked with the UNEP's Global Communication Division and CITES Mike Programme, African Union's Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR), where he contributed to content creation, led the production of a World Rabies Day awareness documentary, and managed visibility efforts for high-level events. He also has experience in broadcast journalism and visual design from his time at Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. He is passionate about using storytelling to drive awareness and action on development issues.
