Under the CFS Multi-Year Programme of Work 2024–2027, the workstream on Collaborative Governance for Coordinated Policy Responses to Emerging Global Food Crises convenes regular dialogues to exchange on evolving food security and nutrition (FSN) challenges and strengthen policy coordination and collaborative governance.

This event is the second Dialogue in 2026 and the sixth since the establishment of the workstream. It will focus on "Addressing Gaps in Information and Data Availability through Multi-Stakeholder Processes in Food Security and Nutrition (FSN)"

Addressing data gaps remains critical to support effective and timely decision-making. Persistent challenges related to data availability, quality, timeliness and disaggregation—particularly in fragile and crisis-affected contexts—continue to constrain the ability to anticipate risks, design responses and monitor progress.

The Dialogue builds on the CFS Policy Recommendations on Strengthening the Collection and Use of Food Security and Nutrition Data and Related Analysis Tools (2023), which provide an agreed multilateral framework to strengthen data systems, enhance coordination and promote inclusive and rights-based data governance.

Discussions will explore key dimensions of FSN data gaps, including governance, coordination and harmonization, timeliness, inclusivity and the use of data for decision-making across contexts. The session will also reflect on the role of CFS in fostering convergence and coordinated action.

The Dialogue will bring together perspectives from across CFS stakeholder groups to share experiences, identify challenges and opportunities, and reflect on the role of CFS in fostering convergence on data gaps, governance and coordinated action.
