What: Stakeholders from various sectors will convene at the Fifty-first Plenary Session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS 51) from 23 to 27 October for in depth dialogue on food security and nutrition, including on coordinated policy responses to the food crisis, gender equality and women’s and girls’ empowerment, data collection and analysis tools, price volatility, social protection and reducing inequalities. In addition, 36 side events will be held on the margins of the plenary from 23 to 27 October.

The Chairperson of the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS), Ambassador Gabriel Ferrero y de Loma-Osorio, expresses his deepest regret of the decision taken by the Russian Federation to end the implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

The UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS) today concluded its 50th Plenary Session (CFS 50). The Plenary was first convened on 10-13 October 2022 and adjourned to a later date to conclude deliberations on coordinating policy responses to the global food crisis informed by the 2022 State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World report (SOFI).

After four long days of policy debate, the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS) adjourned its 50th Plenary Session (CFS 50) to reconvene as soon as possible and conclude deliberations on coordinating policy responses to the global food crisis informed by the 2022 State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World report (SOFI).
