CFS consistently encourages stakeholders to share their experiences and good practices in using and applying CFS-endorsed policy guidelines and recommendations, either through reporting unilaterally or through reporting the results of multistakeholder consultations. Guidance to hold multistakeholder consultations at national, regional and global levels is provided in the Terms of Reference to share experiences and good practices in applying CFS decisions and recommendations through organizing events at national, regional and global levels. Additional relevant information regarding monitoring the implementation of CFS policy products and other policy recommendations is available in this Draft Decision endorsed at CFS 44 in 2017.
Based on these decisions, over the past years the Committee organized various Global thematic Event (GTE) on major CFS policy products as well as monitor event on selected CFS policy recommendations.
These events aim to share experiences and take stock of the use and application of selected policy products by collecting inputs from key stakeholders. The calls for inputs are open for a few months in order to provide enough time to stakeholders to submit their experiences.
The current strategic Multi-Year Programme of Work (MYPoW) for the period 2024–2027 also planned for two upcoming GTEs on the use and application of selected CFS policy products:
The CFS Framework for Action for Food Security and Nutrition in Protracted Crises at CFS 53 in October 2025, also marking the 10th anniversary of the framework’s endorsement. Empowering Family farmers at CFS 54 in October 2026 as a contribution to the objectives of the 2019-2028 UN Decade of Family Farming and to monitor progress on the use and application of a number of relevant CFS policy recommendations: How to Increase Food Security and Smallholder-Sensitive Investments in Agriculture (2011); Investing in Smallholder Agriculture for Food Security and Nutrition (2013); Connecting Smallholders to Markets (2016); Promoting Youth Engagement and Employment in Agriculture and Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition (2022). In this regard, all CFS stakeholders are invited to contribute to this important CFS monitoring exercise by reading and filling in the template available in all UN languages (right hand column) and return it to the CFS Secretariat at [email protected] by 15 April 2026.
