Group of National Focal Points for Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture
In 1995 the FAO Conference decided to broaden the Commission’s mandate to cover all components of biodiversity of relevance to food and agriculture. In 2013, the Commission, at its Fourteenth Regular Session, invited countries to officially nominate a National Focal Point to lead the preparation of country reports on Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture. In 2017, at its Sixteenth Regular Session, the Commission decided to hold a first meeting of a Group of National Focal Points for Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture (NFP BFA Group). The NFP BFA Group consists of three national focal points per region. The NFP BFA Group was instrumental in the preparation of the Framework for Action on Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture, endorsed by the Commission and the FAO Council in 2021.
