Ce webinaire s’inscrit dans le cadre de l’accompagnement de la FAO au processus Koronivia. De manière spécifique, il s’agira de : 

  • présenter les grandes lignes de l’Action Commune de Koronivia pour l’Agriculture; 
  • présenter l’approche Village Intelligent face au Climat et partager des retours d’expérience du Sénégal et du Niger. 
  • présenter l’approche de Champ-École Agrosylvopastoral et partager des retours d’expérience du Burkina et du Mali.

The webinar will present and discuss the forthcoming joint publication on 'Land use and the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture' by FAO and the the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), lead center of the research program on forests, trees and agroforestry (FTA) of the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). The webinar objectives are to:

  • Present and discuss the outline and different sections of the publication;
  • Show the interrelation between land use and agricultural sectors; and
  • Gather feedback and comments from participants.

High-level event commemorating the Fifth Anniversary of the Paris Agreement, 14 Dec 2020

The role of the agricultural sectors in achieving the Paris Agreement and building back better | 14 Dec 2020 | 13:00-14:30 (CEST)

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Paris Agreement, the event, co-hosted by FAO and France, will highlight the key role of the agricultural sectors in supporting the Paris Agreement. Discussion will showcase how FAO works with key country partners to advance international discussions on agriculture and climate change, particularly since the adoption of the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture which put agriculture at the centre of the international climate agenda, and will underscore the critical role of multilateral processes and climate governance as countries rebuild after COVID-19.

Launch of the Climate Change Knowledge Hub

The Climate Change Knowledge Hub will be launched during the event. The Hub provides information and data on climate change in the agriculture and land use sectors from over 50 organizations with links to learning materials, reports, guidelines, policy briefs, tools and more.

The objective of this joint FAO - UNEP webinar is to raise awareness about the nitrogen challenges and potential technical solutions and policies in agri-food systems and highlight the ongoing efforts to better manage nitrogen. The event will provide an opportunity to learn about the multiple roles of nitrogen in agri-food systems and on how different stakeholders can help to achieve sustainable nitrogen management.

The Climate Change Dialogues 2020 will allow UNFCCC Parties and other stakeholders to exchange views and information so as to advance work and keep momentum in the intergovernmental climate change process, and to showcase progress in climate action during the COVID-19 pandemic.
