The FAO project “Country support to the enhancement of the Nationally Determined Contributions in the AFOLU sector” was launched in response to countries’ technical requests. It aims to help them reach their climate ambitions through the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) revision process, under the Climate Action Enhancement Package (CAEP) launched by the NDC Partnership.

As NDCs reflect country-specific ambitions for domestic emission reductions and priorities to adapt to the impacts of climate change, this project responds directly to countries’ priorities as identified by the Governments. The project considers different stages of the NDC process (development, implementation, progress tracking and revision), as well as national circumstances and capabilities, and is being implemented at country level through FAO decentralized offices and in close collaboration with government counterparts and other partners. The geographical coverage of the action spans four global regions and 21 countries, with a particular focus on vulnerable countries, such as landlocked and least developed  countries, small island developing states and others included in FAOs  Hand in Hand Initiative the priority list:
