Food security and sustainable agriculture in the 2030 Agenda – The need for multistakeholder partnerships

About the event: How can multistakeholder partnerships support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda through sustainable agriculture and food system approaches?
This side event is organized jointly by the Governments of South Africa and Switzerland and FAO and will examine experience with multistakeholder partnerships around sustainable food and agriculture as key institutional arrangements for achieving the SDGs. It will discuss how multi-stakeholder partnerships can support the 2030 Agenda through the Sustainable Food and Agriculture approach promoted by FAO; showcase the UN Sustainable Food Systems Programme of the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns (10YFP SFS Programme) as a multistakeholder mechanism, supporting the implementation of the 2030 Agenda at global, regional and national levels; illustrate how civil society is contributing to developing partnerships to achieve the SDGs; discuss Cape Verde’s National Council of Food Security and Nutrition; and explore how to strengthen and make the best use of existing multistakeholder platforms, in support of the SDGs.
