Objective(s) of the engagement

Ahead of World Food Day in 2021, FAO, the United Nations and UN Foundation teamed up with Peter Rabbit and his friends on a digital campaign to encourage their fans to be food heroes. The campaign encouraged youth and their families to become #FoodHeroes like Peter and his friends, by choosing healthy food, reducing food waste, and celebrating other food heroes who work hard to get food to our plate every day.

Progress to date
  • a new Public Service Announcement was launched which features Peter and his friends tackling some of the most important issues regarding sustainable foods. 

  • Social media assets were created 

  • Peter Rabbit helped to promote the FAO World Food Day Children's Activity Book 

  • The campaign linked to the www.un.org/ActNow website encouraging further climate action 

  • Assets were created in all official UN languages + Albanian, Bahasa, Bengali,  Indonesia, Italian, Portuguese, Tajik, Turkish, Uzbek 

  • Actor James Corden, who voiced the Peter Rabbit character in the movie, created a video for Junior World Food Day
