FAO and CRDB Bank intend to collaborate to promote climate-resilient farming techniques, improve land and water management, address post-harvest losses, and enhance smallholder farmers’ access to financing. The partnership aims to support sustainable agribusiness development and create innovative financial products tailored to the unique needs of farmers. A strong focus will be placed on expanding credit opportunities, offering insurance products to mitigate agricultural risks, and leveraging digital banking solutions to enhance financial inclusion in rural areas.

Danone and FAO aim at contributing towards the elimination of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition as well as enabling inclusive and efficient agricultural food systems. The partners have identified areas of collaboration to strengthen food safety in order to enhance food security, to address interconnectivity of humans, animals and the environment via One Health and to improve public-private capacities in delivering climate goals with respect to agriculture and land use sectors.

The partnership builds on shared goals  to optimise the contribution of the global dairy sector to achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Specifically, the partnership will focus on enhancing the contribution of dairy to food and nutrition security and its role in livelihoods and economic growth; supporting and promoting improvements in animal health and welfare in dairy systems; and raising ambitions in dairy systems towards climate action and efficient use of natural resources.
