The partnership between FAO and the Global Pulse Confederation (GPC) aims to promote the sustainable production, consumption and international trade of pulses for improving food and nutrition security and sustainability of agricultural systems.FAO and GPC work together on joint public awareness initiatives; in supporting joint assessments and case studies to foster investments on pulses; and in the promotion of multi-stake holder dialogues. Through the partnership, FAO and GPC have also agreed to collaborate on knowledge development and improving understanding of the impact of antimicrobial use and anti-microbial resistance (AMR) in crop production on food safety and human health.

This partnership aims at leveraging Google’s technical expertise in geospatial products (such as the Google Earth Engine) to enhance FAO-led initiatives for the monitoring of natural resources, livelihoods and the environment. This includes promoting the application of these tools through trainings and events such as conferences and fora.

This partnership takes a coordinated approach to increasing the productivity, profitability and environmental sustainability of smallholder agriculture, leveraging Grow Asia’s network of farmers, the private sector, governments, NGOs and other key stakeholders.  The partners will focus on strengthening the capacity of smallholder value chains and agribusinesses, supporting women’s economic empowerment, enabling greater participation of the private sector in policy dialogues, promoting responsible investments in food, agriculture and forestry, and contributing to the ASEAN Action Plan on Fall Armyworm Control.

Together, to support sustainable crop production, improve people's nutrition, livelihoods and incomes , enhance biodiversity and ecosystem services  and contribute to resilience to climate change, through:  Exchange information and ideas on sustainable crop protection. Identify gaps and bottlenecks in mainstreaming the use of biological control, be it regulatory, research, production or field use. Enhance capacities and pilot other solutions that will facilitate greater adoption of biological control as a sustainable tool in crop protection. Promote the use of biological control globally.
