Mars Inc. has been a longstanding private sector partner of FAO since 2015 in the area of improving food safety and quality in agriculture production. Under this Memorandum of Understanding, FAO and Mars will jointly work to exchange knowledge and information to support science-based decision-making on food safety.

Swiss startups, SMEs, large-scale industry, and academia are leaders in science, technology, and innovation, including in the agrifood sector. These actors are united under Swiss Food & Nutrition Valley (SFNV), a purpose-driven, nationwide, multistakeholder, not-for-profit association that strengthens and promotes food system innovation.
FAO and SFNV aim to establish mechanisms for identifying, developing, refining, and scaling innovative solutions in the areas of nutrition and healthy diets, with the objective of contributing to the transformation of agrifood systems by addressing root causes and mitigating the consequences of challenges within these systems.

FAO and the World Economic Forum (WEF) intend to explore collaboration in several areas of common interest such as enhancing public-private sector dialogue for increased investment, engaging and leading a data and digital coalition, and promoting work towards inclusive, efficient, sustainable and healthy agrifood systems, including through support to food innovation hubs.

FAO and the WUWM will focus on reducing food loss and waste and improving food markets and distribution systems. The partnership will carry out joint initiatives, activities and programmes in the following areas of cooperation: knowledge development and knowledge sharing; dissemination of good practices; awareness and advocacy; and promotion of capacity development to reduce food loss and waste (FLW) and the organization of and participation in joint events.
