This partnership aims to contribute to achieving food security for all and ensuring that people have regular access to enough high quality food to lead active, healthy lives. Together, FAO and SIPPO will promote sustainable food exports, create employment opportunities, secure livelihoods and improve incomes while ensuring sustainable management of natural resources. In addition, the partnership will promote sustainable fish and seafood trade through Development and Technical Programmes, norms and standard setting, knowledge management and dissemination, advocacy and communication and policy dialogue.

The objective of this collaboration is to undertake technical cooperation in specific countries, especially those countries in which FAO and Syngenta both operate. The parties will maintain close consultations with a view to coordinate policy and plans of action relating to weather influence on food and agriculture, and may work with local entities belonging to Syngenta to mutually develop, on a rolling basis, specific country-level programmes. FAO, the Government of Australia and AWP aim to strengthen cooperation between Australian public and private sector water organizations, and relevant in-country partners in the Asia-Pacific region. The partnership promotes capacity development through joint programmes, knowledge sharing and building, workshops, policy dialogues, study tours and technical collaboration related to the management and governance of surface and ground water for agriculture. The partnership also oversees advisory services provided by Australian specialists to FAO and partner countries; staff exchanges and knowledge sharing activities/events; and networking between organizations based in Australia and other countries in the region.
