Description
Sweida Governorate, As-Sweida District, Mashnaf Subdistrict, Syria
A woman in Sweida tends her dairy cattle, which received treatment against ecto and endoparasites as part of a project designed to mitigate production losses of poor livestock-dependent households. Thanks to the support of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), and in collaboration with the Syrian Veterinary Association (SVA) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, the project treated 4 344 000 sheep, goats and cattle against endo and ectoparasites, benefiting 94 522 households (approximately 567 312 people). Women in the targeted areas are often in charge of marketing dairy products and the income generated.
