In this short video statement to the International Development Law Organization, FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva states that the rule of law is a key principle for ensuring effective, fair and inclusive governance, outlining how FAO is working to promote and strengthen the rule of law while increasing its contribution to sustainable development. 

FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva today praised UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon for his support in the fight against hunger at a meeting with the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), member countries and UN Rome-based agencies staff. 

FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva addresses the International High Level Conference on Fishing Capacity “Global Fishing Capacity-Less is more” held in Thessaloniki on 13-14 March 2014 by the European Commission with the participation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations under the auspices of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The meeting is contribution to sustainable fisheries, the main objective of the reformed European Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). Sustainable fishing is a prerequisite for a better future for the sector.
