UN-backed report highlights new challenges, opportunities of growing urbanization

A new report from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) stressed that managing urbanization sustainably poses new challenges and opportunities to recast food and agriculture systems in ways that benefit both cities and the countryside, a UN spokesman told reporters here Monday. "This new report presented by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the FAO addresses a wide range of issues linked to urbanization," Farhan Haq, the deputy UN spokesman, said at a daily news briefing here.
