Bilateral meeting with Minister for Rural Affairs of Sweden – H.E. Peter Kullgren

Rome - The FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, met at FAO headquarters in Rome with H.E. Peter Kullgren, Minister for Rural Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden.

The Director-General thanked the Minister for Sweden’s longstanding, generous support to FAO, and for being a champion of FAO’s Flexible Voluntary Contribution (FVC) pooled funding tool.

The Minister mentioned the Swedish presidency of the Council of the EU during the first half of 2023 and underlined the important role of FAO in addressing the impact of climate change and food insecurity, as well as driving agrifood systems transformation towards a sustainable future for all and achieving the SDG agenda.

The Director-General invited the Minister to use the World Food Forum (WFF), which will take place from 16 to 20 October 2023 in Rome, as a platform for youth action, science and innovation, and investment.
