Bilateral meeting with the Chief of the National Food Agency of Indonesia - Arief Prasetyo Adi

Rome - The FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, had a bilateral meeting with Mr Arief Prasetyo Adi, Chief of the National Food Agency of Indonesia, on the sidelines of the UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment taking place at FAO Headquarters from 24 to 26 July.
The Chief congratulated the Director-General for his successful re-election, and briefly introduced the newly established National Food Agency, which is responsible for policy, managing supply, stabilizing prices and diversifying consumption. The delegation of Indonesia also referred to Indonesia’s 2025-2045 Long-Term Development Plan, which aims to achieve the 2045 Golden Indonesia Vision with a 0% poverty rate and reduced inequalities.
The Director-General reaffirmed FAO’s willingness to strengthen cooperation with Indonesia in terms of, among others, aquaculture, tropical agriculture, and digital agriculture, as well as science and innovation. He further encouraged Indonesia to share its experience on tropical agriculture development with other countries. The Director-General emphasized the essential importance of transforming agrifood systems to build resilience to the impacts of the climate crisis and develop a Green Economy and a Blue Economy in the Country.
Finally, the pair shared opinions on enhancing the governance of supply value chains, especially for staple food.
