Bilateral meeting with the Minister for Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests of Morocco – H.E. Mohamed Sadiki

Rome - The FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, met with H.E. Mohamed Sadiki Minister for Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The Director-General congratulated Morocco on receiving the GIAHS Certificate which was awarded to its site ksour of Figuig – an oasis characterized by the interdependence of pastoralist and farming communities.

The Minister appreciated FAO’s continued leadership emphasizing the importance of GIAHS sites in providing food security and livelihood.

The Director-General and the Minister agreed to strengthen their cooperation in line with the Country Programming Framework for 2023-2027. They also committed to promote South-South Cooperation focusing on areas such as water management, agrifood systems and soil management building on the FAO Hand-in-Hand Initiative and the FAO One Country One Priority Product.
