Bilateral meeting with the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic - H.E. Jozef Bíreš

Rome - Today the FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, met at FAO headquarters in Rome with H.E. Jozef Bíreš, Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic, on the sidelines of the UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment.
The Director-General recalled the meeting he had in April this year with State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development H.E. Martin Kováč and expressed his appreciation for the participation of the State Secretary in the roundtable on Water Infrastructure on 5 July 2023 during the FAO Conference.
The Minister congratulated the Director-General on his re-election for a second mandate as FAO Director-General and look forward to continued and strengthened collaboration on important cross-cutting issues such as land, water management and climate.
During the meeting the pair also a signed a Contribution Agreement for the Renovation of the Slovak Delegates’ Lounge at FAO headquarters, which was originally inaugurated in 2011.
The two recalled that this year marks 30 years since Slovakia became a Member of FAO.
