Bilateral meeting with the Minister for Agriculture of Jordan, H.E. Khaled Hneifat

Rome - The FAO Director-General, Qu Dongyu, met with H.E. Khaled Hneifat, Minister for Agriculture of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the margins of the 43rd Session of the FAO Conference.

The Director-General welcomed the Minister to FAO and conveyed his appreciation for the ongoing cooperation between FAO and Jordan, in particular following the visit of the Director-General to Jordan in November 2022 and his meeting with His Majesty King Abdullah II.

The Minister Agrilcture appreciated FAO’s techncial support in areas such as water efficiency, mechanization and digitalization of agrifood systems, as well as ecosystem restoration and biodiversity conservation.

The Director-General thanked the Minister for the generous offer of the Government of Jordan to host the 37th session of the FAO Regional Conference for the Near East (NERC37) in 2024.

The Director-General and the Minister agreed on the key role of Jordan in supporting food security in the region, as well as the ongoing important support by FAO for Jordan’s national efforts in cooperation with countries in the region.
