Bilateral meeting with the Minister for Agriculture of Lebanon - H.E. Abbas Hajj Hassan

Rome - The FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu met with H.E. Abbas Hajj Hassan, Minister for Agriculture of Lebanon on the sidelines of the UN Food Systems Summit +2.

The Minister congratulated the Director-General on his re-election, and expressed appreciation for FAO's continued support to Lebanon in a time when many countries are facing challenges affecting food security. He provided an overview of the national efforts to support the agriculture sector focusing on gender equality and capacity building.

The Director General welcomed the Minister and emphasized that FAO will continue to support Lebanon’s efforts to transform its agrifood systems, building on the comparative advantages and helping the country increase its self-sufficiency and enhance productivity. 

The Director-General and the Minister agreed to continue to strengthen cooperation, in particular with international financial institutions and relevant partners.
