Bilateral meeting with the Minister for Food and Agriculture of the Republic of Ghana – The Honourable Bryan Acheampong

Rome - Director-General QU Dongyu and The Honourable Bryan Acheampong, Minister for Food and Agriculture of the Republic of Ghana, met on the margins of the UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment taking place at FAO Headquarters from 24 to 26 July 2023.

The Minister congratulated the Director-General for his re-election and updated him on the President's commitment and Ghana's Pathways to Sustainable Agrifood Systems, noting that the inclusion of small-scale farmers and vulnerable individuals is key for livelihood improvement in rural areas.

The Director-General thanked and congratulated the Minister on his recent appointment. He proceeded to applauded the Minister for the “Planting for Food and Jobs 2.0” (PJ2) flagship programme delivery through an input-credit approach for prioritized commodities, and involves the Private Sector.

The Director-General and the Minister agreed on the increased need for value addition, and post-harvest management to transform agrifood systems.
