Bilateral meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Central African Republic, H.E. Eric Rokosse-Kamot

Rome - FAO Director-General QU Dongyu today met H.E. Eric Rokosse-Kamot, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Central African Republic.
The meeting took place at the sidelines of the 172nd Council of the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome (24-28 April 2023).
The Minister reiterated his appreciation for the good cooperation between FAO and the Central African Republic. He underlined the importance of the technical assistance provided by the Organization in many instances, including the Africa Development Bank-led Dakar II Summit Feed Africa: Food Sovereignty and Resilience held in Senegal in January 2023. The Minister proceeded to share with the Director-General the importance of increasing and improving agricultural production for his country through improved cooperation and collaboration via initiatives such as the Hand-in-Hand and the One Country One Priority Product (OCOP).
The Director-General reiterated FAO’s continued support and vision to strengthen the cooperation. He noted the huge potential the country has for agrifood systems transformation and the importance of social security and national stability for achieving developmental goals. He also noted that investments and an enabling policy environment would attract international support.
