Bilateral meeting with the Vice-President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia - H.E. David Choquehuanca Céspedes
Rome - FAO Director-General QU Dongyu met today with the Vice President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, H.E. David Choquehuanca Céspedes, at FAO headquarters in Rome.
The Vice-President conveyed his appreciation to the Director-General and underlined the importance of camelids —especially alpacas and llamas— in his country and his interest in establishing an Investigation Center for research into the full potential of llamas and their nutritional qualities. Additionally, he stressed the relevance of quinoa as a healthy food, the potato's varieties, and Bolivia's maize.
The Director-General welcomed the Vice-President to FAO and conveyed his appreciation of his participation in the event to launch the International Year of Camelids 2024.
The pair further exchanged views on the importance of enhancing production and productivity through improved access to inputs, technologies, and innovations to increase value and achieve the transformation of agrifood systems.
The Director-General and the Vice-President reiterated their collective will to strengthen the partnership between the Organization and to join forces and work together towards common objectives, including the successful outcome of the International Year of Camelids 2024.
