Director-General meets UK Permanent Secretary of the Department for Environment and Rural Affairs
2 December 2019, Rome - FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu met today with Tamara Finkelstein, United Kingdom Permanent Secretary of the Department for Environment and Rural Affairs, at the Organization’s headquarters in Rome.
The pair met on the sidelines of the 163rd Session of the FAO Council and the side event for the launch of the International Year of Plant Health 2020.
The United Kingdom offered full support to making the International Year of Plant Health 2020 a big success.
In their talks, the Director-General praised the United Kingdom for their continued support of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM).
The parties further agreed to work more closely together and share their knowledge and vision on the future of rural development, as a key element of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
