FAO and Libya discuss efforts to boost agricultural development in the North African country

FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu and Abdel Basset El Ghenimi, Libya’s Acting Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Marine Resources, in talks today reviewed joint efforts aimed at boosting the North African country’s agriculture sector.
In particular, the parties discussed the existing cooperation between FAO and the Libyan government, including the UTF Programme - which has a component dedicated to plant protection – and on ways to strengthen and implement it.
Qu outlined FAO’s new Hand-In-Hand initiative, which is aimed at accelerating achievement towards Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 2, building on FAO normative and policy assets.
