Heads of FAO and the Russian Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare aim to step up collaboration

10 October 2019, Moscow - FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu visited the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare of the Russian Federation, and had a meeting with Ms. Anna Popova, Head of the Federal Service.
They discussed a number of issues of common interest, such as joint food safety activities, as well as potential collaboration aimed at creating sustainable and equitable food systems.
The FAO Director-General presented the Organization’s new Hand-in-Hand Initiative, which aims at assisting vulnerable populations in a targeted manner, and highlighted the importance of involving all stakeholders, including academia and research centers alongside governments, international organizations, and the private sector.
