South-South/Triangular Cooperation tops agenda in talks with China’s aid agency
4 September 2019 - FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu today met Wang Xiaotao, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), discussing a range of issues related to future collaboration on multiple levels.
Qu thanked Wang for China’s ongoing support to FAO, notably through South-South Cooperation and Triangular Cooperation, and noted that the Organization would be willing to receive more voluntary contributions from CIDCA. He also briefed the partner on his work in the past month and FAO’s mandate in general.
For his part, Wang said he was confident that FAO, under Qu’s leadership, would make a positive contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals, noting that Zero Hunger and poverty reduction are cardinal elements of that agenda.
During this visit to Italy, Wang and his delegation also met with senior officers of the other two Rome-based UN agencies, the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the World Food Programme.
