Bilateral meeting with H.E. Enkhbayar Jadamba, Minister for Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of the Republic of Mongolia

Tashkent - The FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, and His Excellency Enkhbayar Jadamba, Minister for Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of the Republic of Mongolia, met in Tashkent on the sidelines of the LLDC Forum on Food Security and SDGs, hosted by Uzbekistan, to discuss current collaboration and means to further strengthen relations between FAO and Mongolia.
The Director-General thanked the Minister for Mongolia’s active participation during the LLDC Forum and highlighted the country’s potential and future contribution in food production, livestock breeding, cropland expansion, and in the establishment of the economic corridor.
The Minister highlighted Mongolia’s ongoing collaboration with Central Asian countries, especially in training of experts, and referred to the need to continue accelerating trade relations and economic integration with these countries. The Minister also referred to the need to work together to eliminate all barriers and burdens in terms of infrastructure, transportation, and logistics to support economic and trade developments between the countries, establish veterinary international certificates, as well as land protection issues, and requested FAO’s technical support in this regard.
The FAO Director-General highlighted the importance of Mongolia’s involvement in the World Food Forum to be held in Rome in October 2024 to gain support for future collaborations, and to discuss joint efforts and projects.
The pair agreed to continue working together to support the transformation of Mongolia’s agrifood system.
