Bilateral Meeting with H.E. Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence and Initiatives of the Arab Republic of Egypt

Rome - On the side lines of the World Food Forum 2024, the FAO Director-General met with H.E. Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence and Initiatives of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The Assistant Minister conveyed the appreciation of the Egyptian Government, and H.E the Minister of Planning, Economic Development & International Cooperation to FAO and the Director General for the reforms introduced in FAO and the increasing cooperation between FAO and Egypt, as well as for the success of the World Food Forum.
The Assistant Minister also appreciated the support of FAO to the Smart Green Projects initiative, indicating that the initiative had attracted over 17 000 applicants and was benefiting from the technical support from several UN agencies to help mobilize climate action at rural and urban levels.
The Director-General welcomed the Assistant Minister, referring to his visit to Egypt in March 2024 during which he had witnessed the ongoing efforts taken by the government to transform the agrifood system and achieve sustainable development.
The Director-General appreciated the innovative nature of the Smart Green Projects initiative, focusing on practical solutions to deal with climate challenges. He reiterated that the Organization would continue to provide technical support to the initiative, including through strengthening project proposals and raising awareness of the initiative, incorporating sustainable and technological elements.
