Bilateral Meeting with H.E. Jambaltseren Tumur-Uya, State Secretary of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia

Rome - During the World Food Forum (WFF) 2024 at FAO headquarters in Rome, FAO Director-General QU Dongyu met with H.E. Jambaltseren Tumur-Uya, State Secretary of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia. The Director-General welcomed the State Secretary and expressed his gratitude for Mongolia’s longstanding support, emphasizing that Mongolia had significant potential in the agricultural sector, which could play an even greater role in global agrifood systems.

The State Secretary thanked FAO for organizing the WFF and providing Mongolia the opportunity to participate, as well as for FAO’s support for Mongolia’s agrifood transformation strategy noting that food security remains a top priority for Mongolia, especially in the face of global challenges like climate change. The State Secretary further highlighted several areas where Mongolia seeks further support from FAO such as for the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026,  promoting agricultural development in provinces, enhancing collaboration on Mongolia's rich livestock resources, and on climate mitigation efforts.

The Director-General reaffirmed FAO’s readiness to support Mongolia and encouraged the country to use FAO’s flagship platforms to attract potential partners, and to continue participating in the WFF for continued collaboration and exchange.
