Bilateral meeting with H.E. Rania Abd-El Moneim Al-Mashat , Minister for Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation of the Arab Republic of Egypt

Rome - The FAO Director-General met today with Her Excellency Rania Abd-El Moneim Al-Mashat Minister for Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation of the Arab Republic of Egypt, on the side lines of the World Food Forum 2025 taking place at FAO headquarters in Rome from 13 to 17 October 2025.
The Director-General expressed his appreciation for the strong and increasing cooperation between Egypt and FAO, and for the long-standing support from Egypt to the organization, including through hosting the FAO Regional Office in Cairo and referred in particular to the FAO Global Working Conference of FAO Representatives to be held in Cairo in December 2025.
The Minister appreciated FAO’s growing technical support to Egypt, referring to concrete outcomes including the positive economic indicators and the increase in agricultural productivity and exports of agriculture products. She also highlighted the recently launched National Narrative of Economic Development, which advances policies for growth and employment
The Director General and the Minister agreed to continue working together to promote, among others, private sector engagement as a driver of sustainable agrifood systems and growth.
Following the meeting, the Director-General and the Minister signed a Letter of Intent to further strengthen the joint work and to enhance the efficiency, inclusiveness, sustainability, and resilience of Egypt’s agrifood system, including through the support and strengthening of relevant national policies.
