Bilateral meeting with H.E. Ricardo Cabrisas, Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba

Rome - FAO Director-General QU Dongyu met H.E. Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, at FAO headquarters in Rome.
The Director-General welcomed the Vice Prime Minister of Cuba on his first visit to FAO.
The Vice Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet during this trip, which coincides with engagements with the Paris Club concerning the restructuring of Cuba’s debt obligations. He underscored the understanding, support, and solidarity he encountered amongst its members. He further emphasized the significance Cuba ascribes to honoring its commitments to FAO.
The Vice Prime Minister reiterated the importance of FAO's assistance and cooperation and reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to the Organization.
The Director-General acknowledged Cuba's commendable agricultural practices and progress and reaffirmed FAO's unwavering support for the country's agrifood system.
The Director-General underscored the vital roles of youth and women in rural food production. He also stressed the importance of the forthcoming FAO Ministerial Conference in June/July 2025.
The two exchanged views on the importance of enhancing production and productivity through technical support, innovation, and the Hand-in-Hand Initiative aimed at eradicating hunger.
