Bilateral Meeting with H.E. Selamawit Kassa, Minister for Tourism, of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia

Rome - FAO Director-General, Dr QU Dongyu, met today with H.E. Selamawit Kassa, Minister for Tourism, of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia on the margins of the 2025 World Food Forum (WFF) and FAO's 80th Anniversary celebrations at FAO headquarters.

The Director-General welcomed the Minister and thanked her for participation at the WFF 2025 and commended the country for being a leader in agrifood systems transformation initiatives in Africa. 

The Minister congratulated the Director-General on the success of the week-long events and conveyed her appreciation for the longstanding cooperation and partnership. She further informed of Ethiopia’s efforts to develop climate smart or green rural villages, indicating that Ethiopia could benefit from FAO’s technical expertise for expediting the development of the climate smart rural transformation projects in line with the Four Betters. 

The pair discussed various ways to further strengthen their strategic partnership and deliberated on how tourism could also be used as part of acceleration efforts for agrifood systems transformation with youth and women at the center of development programmes.
