Bilateral Meeting with H.E. Sid'Ahmed Ould Bouh, Minister for Economy and Finance of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania

Rome - FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu met today at FAO headquarters with H.E. Sid'Ahmed Ould Bouh, Minister for Economy and Finance of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania

The Director General welcomed the Minister to FAO and reiterated the Organization’s continued support for the Government's efforts in transforming the agrifood system.

The Minister thanked the Director-General for his visit to Mauritania in April 2024 and expressed his appreciation for FAO's support in helping Mauritania improve its food security, in particular referring to the Organization’s technical assistance for the country’s first-ever General Census of Livestock.

The Minister further provided an overview of the Government's initiatives for the sustainable management of natural resources, ecosystem restoration, poverty alleviation, and greenhouse gas reduction.

The two sides agreed to further enhance cooperation through the FAO Hand in Hand Initiative, and by focusing on climate financing, sustainable agriculture, fisheries, and livestock.
