Bilateral meeting with H.E. Qurbon Hakimzoda, Minister for Agriculture of Tajikistan

Rome - FAO Director-General, QU Dongyu, and H.E. Qurbon Hakimzoda, Minister for Agriculture of Tajikistan, met on the sidelines of the 44th Session of the FAO Ministerial Conference, to discuss ways to strengthen collaboration between FAO and Tajikistan.
The Director-General welcomed the Minister and recalled his recent travel to Tajikistan, and reaffirmed FAO’s commitment to delivering on all the agreements reached during the visit.
The Minister emphasized that Tajikistan highly values the cooperation with FAO and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the long-standing and productive partnership with FAO since 1995, in particular he praised the work of the FAO office in the country.
The Minister and Director-General discussed several ongoing joint projects, including the initiative to improve Yak breeding by introducing yaks from Mongolia, and FAO’s support for Tajikistan’s application for the Agropastoral System Adapted to Harsh Mountain Conditions (Almosi Valley, Hissar).
The Minister briefed the Director-General on progress in the establishment of a Tajikistan Room at FAO Headquarters to serve as a hub for FAO’s work on climate change.
Both agreed to continue to work together on agrifood systems transformation to achieve the Four Betters.
