Bilateral meeting with Ms Diane WONG Shuk-han, Under Secretary for Environment and Ecology Bureau, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China

Rome - The FAO Director-General, Dr QU Dongyu, met today with Ms Diane WONG Shuk-han, Under Secretary for Environment and Ecology Bureau, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, on the sidelines of the 2025 World Food Forum and FAO’s 80th Anniversary celebrations at FAO headquarters. Mr Lai Kinming, Director of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, also attended the meeting.
The Director-General welcomed the delegation and commended Hong Kong’s active engagement with FAO. He highlighted Hong Kong’s strong foundation in veterinary services, aquaculture management, and wetland conservation, noting that these achievements demonstrated the region’s advanced capacity for applying the One Health approach.
Ms WONG expressed appreciation for FAO’s leadership and congratulated the Organization on its 80th anniversary. She underscored their commitment to the One Health approach, emphasizing the importance of addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and promoting multisectoral cooperation.
Following the meeting, a Letter of Intent was signed between FAO and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to further strengthen collaboration.
