Bilateral meeting with The Honourable Anthony M. Muller, Minister for Natural Resources and Commerce of the Marshall Islands

Rome - On the margins of the World Food Forum (WFF) 2024 at FAO Headquarters in Rome, FAO Director-General QU Dongyu met with The Honourable Anthony M. Muller, Minister for Natural Resources and Commerce of the Marshall Islands.
Minister Muller expressed his gratitude for the invitation extended to the Marshall Islands to join the WFF and noted that this was his first visit to FAO. He thanked FAO for the ongoing support provided to the Marshall Islands, particularly highlighting the strong assistance from FAO Subregional Office for the Pacific Islands. He also emphasized the richness of the Marshall Islands’ tuna and other fishery resources, which are highly regarded in the global market, and shared that fish has been successfully integrated into the nation's school meal program.
Director-General QU Dongyu expressed his appreciation for the Minister’s continued support as a member of FAO. He hoped that the Minister would find the WFF a valuable platform to promote agricultural development globally. The Director-General reaffirmed FAO’s commitment to supporting Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and pledged to continue facilitating support for Members.
