Bilateral Meeting with The Honourable Edwin G. Dikoloti, Assistant Minister for Lands and Agriculture of the Republic of Botswana

Rome - The FAO Director-General met with The Honourable Edwin G. Dikoloti, Assistant Minister for Lands and Agriculture of the Republic of Botswana at FAO headquarters.
The Director-General welcomed the Assistant Minister and congratulated Botswana on its development and its status as upper middle-class income country.
The Assistant Minister noted that they look forward to a strengthened FAO presence in the country to further strengthen join projects. He further highlighted that as a Landlocked Developing Country Botswana had been hit hard by the impacts of the climate crisis and was facing immense challenges. He further informed that Botswana looked forward to joining the One Country One Priority Production (OCOP) initiative and were considering potatoes and tomatoes as priority products to enhance their value chain. The Director-General reaffirmed FAO’s full support in providing all the technical assistance needed in this regard.
The Director-General further encouraged Botswana to continue to implement the One Health approach as a center of excellence for projects in the region, especially in the livestock sector.
