Bilateral Meeting with The Honourable H. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, Minister for Agriculture and Food Security of the Republic of South Sudan

Rome – The FAO Director-General, Dr QU Dongyu, met today with The Honourable ​Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, Minister for Agriculture and Food Security, of the Republic of South Sudan on the margins of the 2025 World Food Forum and FAO's 80th Anniversary celebrations. The Honourable Onyoti Adigo Nyikec, Minister for Livestock and Fisheries also attended the meeting. 

The Director-General welcomed the Minister, and conveyed his appreciation for the good collaboration with South Sudan and looked forward to further strengthening the strategic partnership to accelerate agrifood systems transformation.

The Minister thanked the Director-General for the meeting and especially for FAO’s support to South Sudan over the years and requested increased support for promoting sustainability of joint projects and their agrifood system, and looked forward to further refining and aligning investment coordination efforts. In this regard, the pair acknowledged the importance and impact of the Hand in Hand Investment Forum as a platform for attracting investment for agriculture projects.
