Bilateral Meeting with The Honourable John Boito, Minister for Agriculture of Papua New Guinea

Nadi, Fiji - At the SIDS Solutions Forum held in Nadi, Fiji, the FAO Director-General met with The Honourable John Boito, Minister for Agriculture of Papua New Guinea.
The Director-General emphasized FAO’s commitment to Papua New Guinea, advocating for a collaborative, evidence-based approach to maximize project impact and support sustainable growth.
Minister Boito outlined Papua New Guinea’s economic priorities, particularly coffee and tuna fisheries, and expressed appreciation for FAO’s support in establishing a national agrifood strategy.
The Director-General assured FAO’s readiness to provide technical support, including through the Blue Transformation roadmap, and highlighted the Hand-in-Hand (HiH) initiative’s role in developing a national strategy for rural development.
Both parties expressed their commitment to working together to advance Papua New Guinea’s agrifood system transformation.
