Rome - FAO Director-General, Dr QU Dongyu, met with The Honourable Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim Government of Bangladesh, on the sidelines of the 2025 World Food Forum and FAO’s 80th Anniversary celebrations at FAO headquarters.

The Director-General warmly welcomed Dr Yunus and deeply appreciated his longstanding contribution to Bangladesh’s agricultural and rural development. He reaffirmed FAO’s readiness to continue supporting the country through technical assistance, innovation, and South–South and Triangular Cooperation.

Dr Yunus expressed appreciation for FAO’s longstanding support and requested continued collaboration in three key areas: enhancing expertise in deep-sea fisheries and fish processing; promoting value addition through fruit preservation and processing; and strengthening post-harvest management and cold storage capacity.

Both sides agreed to continue working closely to advance food security and agrifood systems transformation in Bangladesh, the region and beyond.
